“Narchitektur” presented by Visual Artist Sige Nagels, for the exhibition ‘Dear 2050: Humans respond to climate change’, organized by Climanosco, Oct. 24 – Nov. 6, St Annagasse 11, Zürich, 2020
Join Sige on a walk through Zürich where she takes you into the near future, where her architect’s and artist’s design answers and addresses climate change.
Just like nature carries Zürich, this installation carries 3d compositions of architecture & nature of nine locations in the heart of the city. Combined with painting & collage, this experience opens doors in your mind, making you hold on to these imaginations and visualizations of how we can evolve our cities into sustainable versions for our children and for nature.
Walking the streets of Zürich afterward will make you see this new reality of ‘’Narchitektur’’ for yourself. You’ll want to share stories of your favorite look-throughs with your beloved ones! It will make your dream almost real, you can touch it with your bare hands, and act upon it more.
The art installation was exhibited afterward on the rooftop of Hotel Sedartis, presenting my hometown Thalwil with this vision on the 21st of November, 2020.
Since then already several exhibitions were set up.

Sechselüüteplatz, Zürich: Es entsteht eine Belohnung dieses wichtigen Platzes durch die Schaffung eines überdachten Sommergartens, nivellierter Durchgänge und eines Top-Gartens für öffentliche Veranstaltungen, einschliesslich des beliebten Weihnachtsmarktes und Sechselüüte.
Diese Oase ist ein Verbindungspunkt für mehrere öffentliche Räume, von denen jeder seinen Verkehr mitbringt, jeder in seinem eigenen Tempo.
Die Promenaden gegenüber dem Cinema Corso sind mit Ausschnitten für die dort stehenden grossen Bäume vorgesehen, so dass die Natur von den Ästen, die direkten Schatten erzeugen, erlebt werden kann.
Eine provisorische Bühne wird nur für die jährliche Verbrennung des Böögg gebaut. Auf der obersten Etage können Pferde im Kreis reiten.
Auf dem Bürkliplatz sehe ich eine Mama und einen Papa mit je einem Kind auf den Schultern, die dem von Menschenhand geschaffenen Schneemann namens Böög bei der Explosion zusehen. Die bekleideten Pferde laufen in sicheren Kreisen um die provisorische Bühne, die für diese jährliche Tradition gebaut wurde.
Ich sehe Eltern, die auf ihre Kinder warten, nachdem die Märli Tram von Samichlaus zurückgebracht wurde, in der Gewissheit, dass sichere Verbindungsorte für immer und ewig zu dieser Stadt gehören werden.
Ich sehe eine schwangere Frau auf der Strandpromenade am Zürichsee, die auf ihre älteste Tochter an einer bestimmten Stelle auf der Dachterrasse zeigt, wo Papa um ihre Hand anhielt.

Sechseläuten Square, Zürich: Rewarding this important square by creating a covered summer garden, leveled walk-throughs, and a top garden for public events including the beloved Christmas market and Sechselüüte. This oasis is a connection point for several public spaces, each bringing its traffic, each at its own pace. The boardwalks opposite the Cinema Corso are foreseen with cutouts for the large trees standing there, experiencing nature from the branches creating a direct shadow. A temporary stage will only be built for the yearly burning of the Böögg. Horses can ride in circles on the top floor.
I see a mum and a dad on the Bürkliplatz, each with a child on their shoulders, watching the man-made snowman called Böög explode. The dressed horses run in secure circles around the temporary stage built for this yearly tradition.
I see parents waiting for their children after the Märli Tram was brought back by Samichlaus, knowing for sure that secure places of connection will belong to this city forever and ever.
I see a pregnant lady on the boardwalk beside the lake of Zürich pointing to her oldest daughter at a specific spot on the roof terrace where dad asked her to marry her.
