A choice, a seed

I so love this artwork. The colors are vibrant, powerful, bold and harmoniously leveraging one another. The soft pink looks marvelous on the fluorescent orange. I sewed several pieces of historic fabric on the canvas. Historic? Because the fabric was produced by a silk factory in Thalwil highly succesfully operating and exporting fabrics to the US around the 1920’s.

My friend Marianne F. and her father created many art pieces with Schwarzenbach’s fabric. As I have been creating clothes myself in Belgium for my children when they were babies, I felt this joy and desire to integrate those historical pieces of fabric in my bold and abstract piece of ‘contemporary’ art.

This artwork has been created the other way around. As I am always creating several pieces of art simultaneously, this artwork was stored on its head. I fell in love with this view and finished it opposite of how I started it.
